Blaise Build

We are now turning this shell into a hospital!

Work has been progressing on turning the building shell into what we will very soon recognise as a veterinary hospital. The internal walls are being built, with the consult rooms being created and a large open space for our waiting area.

The brickwork is going in for the operating theatres and other key areas within the main hospital, with the car parking area also being created.

Walls are almost complete.

Most of the internal walls have been installed. There are now very clear areas of the hospital when you walk around the building. We are now starting to get the plasterboard onto the walls and start to ‘fix’ some of the electrical cabling.

It is taking shape now!

The contractors have started skimming the walls, and much of the air conditioning ducting is being installed before the ceilings are put in. The car park is complete and some of the hospital areas are well defined now. 

Getting plastered at Blaise!

The team are currently plastering the internal walls in readiness for their first coat of paint. First is the prep area, the corridors and waiting areas. Once completed the corridors and the waiting area will have fabulous ‘pops’ of colour added.

Blaise is shaping up nicely!

With the internal walls now installed, we are getting our first ‘fix’ of electrical points, initial coats of paint and services are being plumbed in.

The building is now looking more like a veterinary hospital. We have 8 consult rooms, a large waiting area, and the theatres are now built, and are waiting for the equipment to be installed.

It is become very exciting now for the teams that will be working there, as we can see it taking shape!

At the end of July, we plan to install all the external signage so that the building will be easily distinguishable as a veterinary hospital.

New signage installation at Blaise

We are very happy to finally be able to showcase the name of the building. After a year of planning, getting planning permission and a lot of design work, the Blaise signage is now installed onto the outside of the building.

This is the next stage in turning the shell into a fully functioning veterinary hospital.

At the end of the summer, we expect to install all the internal signage and graphics, to being the Blaise building to life!

The plant has been delivered

The flat roof area at Blaise will house all our plant. After hiring in a rather large crane, all our plant has been installed ready to be connected to the various areas of the hospital. In addition, we have our own generator, which will allow us to carry on as a fully functioning hospital in case of a power cut.

All our medical gases will be in a secure building on the site, to enable piped oxygen and medical gases etc throughout the building.

The internal hospital areas are coming together

We are at that stage in the building works, where there are clearly defined areas within the hospital. In particular, the wards are being installed, our operating theatres are clad, and all our cabinets are going in.

We have also started some of the flooring works.

Window graphics

We are excited to see the colourful window graphics installed. These were chosen to be eye catching from outside, whilst allowing the light into the waiting area and office space. The material is called contravision and although during the day, people cannot see into the windows, people sitting in the waiting area can still see out, thus allowing pet owners a bit more privacy.

Introducing some ‘pops’ of colour

We have a vibrant colour palette to use at Blaise, and the key colour for our Birmingham hospital is orange. We have introduced pops of colour in a variety of places within the building, not just in our reception area, but all over. We have even added the bright orange to our toilet facilities!

Key imaging equipment arrives on site

Our MRI machine arrived and was put in-situ. This machine takes a lot of setting up, and needed to be transported through the wall due to it’s size. This will now need to be connected to a number of services and will be fully operational by the time we open in November!

Our CT scanner also arrived the same week. This is an easier install, but we still had to spend time manoeuvring it through the corridors.

These are 2 key pieces of equipment for a veterinary hospital.

Reception desk has been installed

Decoration is almost complete in the building, and we are excited to see the reception desk in place. We can see the inside of this building really taking shape now as we put those details in that will make it a vibrant place to work, and as nice a place as possible to visit for pet owners.

We have used the main Blaise colours of blue, green and orange and used them as ‘feature walls’ in the main waiting area. We hope you like it as much as we do!

We have finally opened our doors!

We are excited to start a new chapter where we have moved into our hospital, met our new colleagues and have started caring for patients. We are very proud of our story, and look forward to a fabulous future at Blaise!
