Our cardiology team is made up of three brilliant team members. Led by Xavier, Head of Service - Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology, the team work together to provide exceptional patient care.
In addition to their expertise, knowledge and experience, the team have access to a range of high-spec equipment allowing them to offer a comprehensive range of cardiac investigations, for problems such as heart murmurs, cardiac arrhythmia, collapse/syncope/seizures, reduced exercise ability, cough and dyspnoea.
What makes Blaise so special? It’s people. We therefore want to introduce you to our brilliant cardiology team who provide remarkable care to patients across the Midlands and beyond.
First up, Xavier. Originally from Valencia, Spain, Xavier moved to the UK in 2009 to become a specialist in veterinary cardiology. Throughout the years, he has been fortunate to have lived and worked in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Hertfordshire, and has now settled within the Midlands.
Outside of work, Xavier enjoys spending time with his partner and two daughters, and whenever he has the chance (and weather permits) he spends time out with his motorbike. He is a keen enthusiast of all sports and especially enjoys football, rugby and motorsports. Xavier and his family don’t have any pets currently, yet this may be set to change as his two daughters continue to pursue the idea of having a pet (it’s only a matter of time).
Lauren Osbourne, Senior Cardiology Nurse graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2018 with a FdSc in Veterinary Nursing. She has previously worked as the cardiology nurse in a private referral hospital in Essex for 5 years before moving to Birmingham and joining Blaise as the senior cardiology nurse in 2023. Her interests in cardiology include feline cardiomyopathies, and interventional cardiology.
In her spare time, Lauren enjoys travelling (especially anywhere with a beach) and spending time with her friends and family.
Ela Mederska, Veterinary Cardiologist, is originally from Poland. She moved to the UK after graduating in 2013 and since then has been working in various small animal roles. She completed her cardiology residency at the University of Liverpool in 2023. She now enjoys providing cutting-edge care to the beloved pets of the West Midlands and beyond.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels hold a special place in Ela's heart as she is the mum of a deaf, one-eyed Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. When she's not at the clinic, you might catch her hitting up a cross-fit session.
