Harriett qualified with honours from Harper Adams University in 2020, graduating in 2022 after a postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following graduation, Harriett was employed by the practice she spent her placement with. Harriett then moved on to a larger multi-branch mixed practice, where she was very grateful to have gained lots of experience working with small, large, and exotic animals. During this time, Harriett’s confidence was given the space to grow, and she began to consider her emerging clinical interests more conscientiously.

As well as being more interested in behaviour, physical rehabilitation and working with more “unusual” pets, Harriett felt particularly inspired by a veterinary mentor to become interested in pharmacology and found herself striving to learn more about veterinary medicine and legislation. Soon after, she was offered the role of Dispensary Nurse at Blaise and accepted with delight.

Harriett says: “It has been a relatively early but interesting career journey so far, and I’m pleased to have found myself in this position. Two years ago, I’d never have guessed I’d have the opportunity to feel embraced in my clinical interests while also having the freedom to express my creative side and to get involved in the more hands-on elements of nursing. Our dispensary team is small but mighty, and I’m lucky to have two very marvellous nurses alongside me helping the hospital to run smoothly and enabling efficient, mindful patient care.”

Outside of work, Harriett devotes her attention to her small tribe of dogs. She also has an artistic side, particularly hand-drawn and digital art, which she incorporates into various elements of her work wherever beneficial. In addition to this, Harriett also enjoys walks in nature and has a keen ear for music and live concerts.
