Natalie Jones Veterinary Care Assistant

If there is a cat or a greyhound in the hospital, Natalie will make a beeline for them!

Natalie knew from a very young age that she wanted to pursue a career working with animals. She initially started working at the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park, but soon realised that she is more passionate about companion animals.

In her teens, she began studying both Animal Care and Animal Management at Halesowen College and left with high grades in both.

Natalie was then employed by the Blue Cross as an Animal Welfare Assistant where her role consisted of many elements including basic dog grooming, dog walking and interacting with cats, socialising, and raising young animals, training dogs using positive reinforcement, and would often assist in veterinary visits, blood tests, vaccinations, and microchipping. It was here where her love of veterinary work truly began.

She initially started her career in veterinary as a Receptionist at Clent Hills Veterinary Group. During her time there, she gained considerable experience in general administrative duties as well as assisting the clinical team with procedures and surgeries, organising pet cremations, and dispensing various types of medications as instructed by the veterinary surgeon. She was also responsible for the processing of insurance claims and the recovery of any practice debt.

Upon joining Blaise, Natalie had no prior experience of working in a veterinary referral hospital. However, Natalie now forms part of the veterinary care assistant team and is thoroughly enjoying this role. She is particularly fond of ‘ward nursing’ and gets a lot of satisfaction from being part of a patient's recovery. She hopes to one day become a Registered Veterinary Nurse and to gain certification in Emergency and Critical Care.

Natalie has a very cheeky tortoiseshell cat named Winnie. She has very unusual markings, half of her face is orange and the other is black. Winnie knows how to high-five, sit and shake, but will only do this in exchange for a tasty treat. She has Natalie wrapped around her little paw!
